What makes Pickering special to you?
This firm is my second home & family. I grew up here and honed my non-engineering skills.
I came to Pickering as a wide-eyed engineering “Summa cum lucky” graduate who didn’t have a clue as to what a career in the engineering consulting profession would look like. Luckily, I was afforded the opportunity to be thrown in the frying pan and “figure it out” with the mentoring help of some seasoned engineers and part time business leaders. I started out as an energy engineer providing studies and simple HVAC retrofit designs, to being a HVAC design engineer, to getting in the project management side of the business, which seemed to be my forte since I obviously wasn’t as talented as the rest of the mechanical engineers on staff at performing more complex HVAC designs – there, I said it!
The opportunities I was given during my project management days were abundant and very challenging, learning about every puzzle piece involved in bringing an owner’s dream into a reality from project financing, site selection, all disciplines of design, construction phasing, construction administration / inspection, to contract close out and handing over the keys to a successfully completed facility. A very daunting task, but very doable when backed by a talented group of surveyors, engineers and architects who all understand and live a mission of Service and Good Work.
