Transportation Engineer

Our Arkansas operation is currently experiencing tremendous growth and has a career opportunity in either our Jonesboro or Little Rock office for an experienced Transportation Engineer. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, flexible, organized, and attentive to detail, with strong time management, writing, and people skills.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Perform engineering calculations and create estimates

  • Develop drawings by modifying or replicating a prior project, applying changes and corrections from redlined drawings, and/or creating drawings from sketches of others or from own design

  • Interpret and understand drawings from multiple disciplines for specific projects and respond to requests for information regarding same

  • Conduct field inspections and surveys, investigate variables, obtain measurements, photographs, videos, and take notes; write reports documenting same

  • Will provide management for design and plan production for transportation projects

  • Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using own judgement to make adaptations and modifications to existing designs

  • Submit concept designs and work through approval processes such as permits from municipalities

  • Independently coordinates the work of other engineers and designers during project development

  • Coordinate with in-house and external consultants and/or subcontractors

  • Coordinate information flow to and from clients

  • Ensure designs are in accordance with company and client production and design standards

  • Complies with federal, state, and local code and regulatory requirements by researching existing and new policies; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

  • Assist in preparation of materials for proposals such as expectations for deliverables and/or budget analysis and billing of projects

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering from an accredited university

  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Arkansas or ability to obtain required

  • 3 - 6 years of experience in the roadway design/construction projects required

  • A working knowledge of Arkansas Department of Transportation Standards

  • Experience in MicroStation and InRoads software desired
