Staff Geologist/Environmental Scientist

Flowood, MS

Pickering has an immediate career opportunity for a staff geologist/environmental scientist to join our team in Flowood, MS.  Qualified applicants have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in geology, environmental sciences, earth sciences, or related fields.  Projects may include Phase I/II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, environmental media sampling, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, storm water management, and site planning and permitting.   Must work within Pickering’s corporate philosophy of performing quality work for our clients, treat our employees as our prime asset and be active, responsible members of the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Has overall responsibility for client contact, contract negotiations, staffing, department policies, research, computation, field work, and drafting. Stamps and signs surveys done under his or her direct supervision. Survey manager provides specialized technical expertise for land surveying, mapping and positioning; geospatial/coordinate data management, quality control, and data collection.

  • Conducting environmental site assessments

  • Supervising subcontractors

  • Assisting with data assessment

  • Report preparation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication skills and design skills

  • Ability to travel to Project Site and/or Overnight Stay

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Work with Project Managers to prepare deliverables

  • Assist in the information flow to and from clients
